VBB has approximately 2 000 000 m2 of flat and easy accessible area at its disposal for a supply base, coating plant and storage of pipelines and other area intensive equipment. The area is undergoing regulation and expected to be ready for construction in 2011.  As the most suitable and closest harbour to Shtokman, CCB and NorSea offer the best possible location, storage and handling of pipelines and larger subsea equipment at VBB.

The Norwegian Vessel Traffic Services (NOR VTS) is located in Vardø under the administration of the Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket). NOR VTS is responsible for the entire Norwegian coastline to the border with Russia and will monitor traffic, exchange information and interact with vessels and other government agencies. It will on a daily basis coordinate tugboat preparedness in North Norway in conjunction with Regional Headquarters and Norwegian Armed Forces. NOR VTS gives Vardø a competent naval environment which together with the perfect location and infrastructure inspires and causes operators of activities related to oil spill preparedness and safety and security at sea, to look to Vardø for establishment.

As next-door neighbor to Vardø Airport, VBB seeks to be the chosen location for a new helicopter base for operations in the north-east Barents Sea, including sea rescue, oil spill preparedness and crew change.

VBB and its large, ice-free and available harbour is not only the next door neighbor to the airport and the main road, in only a three minute drive through the underwater tunnel one reaches the city on the island of Vardø or the smaller community Kiberg on the mainland.

Thus VBB can easily be reached by air, land and sea and can at the convenience of operators and well-being of the crew, offer areas for construction of a crew transfer village within walking distance from the harbour, the airport, the main road, and only a few minutes from the city of Vardø and the village of Kiberg.

CCB offers 35 years of leading experience within petroleum base- and supply services for the offshore market, in addition to extensive experience in various areas of logistics, subsea- and rig repairs, clearing ships, custom and transportation services, etc. at VBB.

From the seasonal fishing industry Vardø has long traditions in housing and successfully incorporating large groups of foreign workers and their families in to warmth of the community. Today the city of Vardø and the village Kiberg has available housing and land, and the municipality welcomes new settlement in relations to the new offshore industry.

With increasing offshore activities on both the Norwegian and Russian side of the north east Barents Sea and the increased transport to Russia and the opening of the North East Passage, VBB has the potential of storing large quantities of containers at Svartnes harbour.

With the construction of quay in cooperation with the authorities, into the deeper seawater of Bussesundet, VBB will be able to offer rig- and subsea services.
